“Colour As Trickster”
Judith Tinkl, fibre and quilt artist, will give an illustrated lecture.

“Members’ Challenge #1”

Make a fabric piece 10″ square in a single colour. The piece can be any subject and may use any technique. The challenge pieces will be shown at the November meeting.

Members will sign up and pay for mini-workshops which will be held at the October 17, meeting.

“Members’ Challenge #1”

Members will present their September challenge projects.

Each of us will make a chanukiah to hang in the window. Bring a sewing kit and a scissors.

Please bring a white T-shirt, white pillowcase or white piece of fabric.

January 16, 2008

“Stitches in the Air”
Dorie Millerson, a textile artist who creates poignant images with needle lace, will present her work.

“It’s a Beading Party”

Join us for a fun evening. There will be four tables. You can visit one or more, as you wish. Supplies will be provided.

“Women of the Bible and Their Influence in History”

“Members’ Challenge #2”

“A Woman of the Bible”

Make a project on the subject “A Woman of the Bible”. The piece can be any size, any colour or technique, but must have at least some fabric included. The challenges will be presented at the June meeting.

“Organizing Our Sewing Space”

Our April meeting will feature a garage sale. The purpose of this sale is to give members a chance to buy and sell fabric, wool, beads, patterns, embellishments, books etc. to give unwanted items new lives while making room for other different treasures. The profit from your sale is yours to keep. Any unsold items not taken back will be donated to the Textile Museum. Do not bring high priced items. Each member is requested to bring one favourite idea for easy storage.

Registration for the May meeting “Techniques Night” will begin at the April meeting.

“Techniques Night”

There will be three stations. Beading, embroidery and hand loom weaving will be taught. Participants must sign up at the April meeting so that teachers can prepare materials. Kits will be available for a small fee.

June 18, 2008

“Show, Share and Qvell”
This is a highlight of the year. Members display and discuss pieces made during the previous year.
Members will present their challenge #2 projects, “A Woman of the Bible”.

“Tallitot”
Shirley Waxman, internationally known tallit maker will speak about tallitot, in particular tallitot for women. She will show some of her work. Advanced registration required.
